The Benjamin Banneker Institute for Science and Technology is a project of Catalyst. Catalyst is an emerging public policy think tank whose mission is to bring an approach to systems analysis, problem solving, and development which is based on the system's possibilities. We are a group of experts in education, housing and community development, economic strategy, and public policy. We bring to the table years of experience in the operational techniques of business, government, academia, and non-profit organizations.

Catalyst operates as a laboratory for the application of the tools of complexity science to the solution of social problems with projects in Arts & Society, Community and Economic Development, Education Reform, and Strategic Policy Design. Our internship program provides an opportunity for students to develop skills in research, operations, and non-profit management.

Prospective candidates should have strong computer skills as well as excellent communication skills. Duties will include general administrative functions, research, updating and reorganizing the filing system, maintaining inventory, sending and receiving invoices, managing Microsoft Access database and paying bills. Full-time permanent employment is available with excellent growth potential.

The intern is expected to work at the Institute’s office in Washington, DC. Work hours will be arranged to accommodate the student’s class schedule. Interns will receive a stipend of $10/hour.
