It is with great pleasure that we welcome the Office of the Chief Technology Officer of the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department as the newest supporter of the Benjamin Banneker Institute for Science and Technology. The police department's Chief Technology Officer, Travis Hudnall, has long been committed to the development of young people, particularly in the areas of science and technology, and he views this collaboration as a way to extend his Office's commitment and broaden its reach.
Regularly the Office of the CTO hosts high school students as interns throughout its divisions and in its executive office. This gives students the kind of exposure to police operations, management systems, and data processing applications that can help them make meaningful career choices. By working with the Banneker Institute, Travis Hudnall hopes to leverage his Office's impact to reach larger numbers of students.
Mr. Hudnall is also very interested in the Banneker Institute's Network of Networks. This is a collaboration between working scientists and STEM educators primarily designed to increase the quality of STEM education available in under-resourced classrooms. The support system needed to facilitate Network of Networks operations is a WEB 2.0 social networking application, and our partnership with Travis Hudnall means that the sky is the limit in the sophistication and functionality of the system we will be able to put in place.
We wish to thank Mr. Hudnall for his dedication to America's youth!
