Jackson, MS (WLBT) - Pioneers for African Americans in the medical field met Saturday at Tougaloo College. The annual Kincheloe Society symposium gathers science, math and physics graduates to increase support in those areas at the college.

This year four trail blazers in Mississippi medicine were honored for their work.  Doctors Albert Britton, Robert Smith, Helen Barnes and Aaron Shirley took part in the panel discussion.

"At one point here in the past 25 years Tougaloo College produced more African American physicians and pharmacists than any other college or university in the state of Mississippi," said Dr. Michael Reddix, President of the Kincheloe Society.

This is the fifth annual luncheon. The money raised goes to Tougaloo College's math, science and physics departments.
